Exhibition runs through June 30th.

For the months of May and June, Murdoch Collections is honored to display a photographic exhibit by Jan Von Pribosic. Jan will be showing his career of photographic accomplishments from 1952 to the present. The exhibit kicks off May 7th with an opening from 6 to 9 pm, and runs through June 30th, 2010 at Murdoch Collections, 2219 NW Raleigh Street in Portland.

Jan Von Pribosic was born December 13th, 1940 in Los Angeles, California. Influential photographers surrounded Jan in his youth, including his father Victor Von Pribosic, uncle William R. Current, and his stepfather John Gutmann. At the tender age of 7, Jan shot his first photograph using a box camera. At 22, Jan met photographer Wynn Bullock, with whom he spent hours walking around Point Lobos and visiting the places Edward Weston captured in his photography.

Wanting to avoid mere duplication of his mentors’ subject matter, Jan specialized in industrial photography. This also ensured a degree of financial stability in his life, as he says; “Since I did not wish to become a starving artist, I had a parallel career as a technician in professional labs, thus insuring a continuous income…”
